CCARC Mini Expedition 2017
The Coal Country Amateur Radio Club actually had two Mini Expeditions this year. One, a long-scheduled Trek to Spruce Knob West Virginia (the highest peak in West Virginia) and a rather impromptu trek to the area of several of our member’s camp/summer/second homes in Summers County West Virginia.
The trip to Spruce Knob is chronicled here.
Here’s a few pics of the Spruce Knob Trip.
As for the trip to Summers County, myself, Tristan (KE8ENC) and Roy (KD8VYO) have camps near Talcott WV. We three and Ken (K8KDC) went up to operate radio, have good food and watch movies. I can say, without a doubt, the trip was a huge success. We took naps, ate well and operated radio! We even did a little experimenting. We built Roy a di-pole and sent a cross-band repeater rig up to Tristan’s camp on the mountain for a little testing in an attempt to connect back to our Bolt Mountain repeater.
Here’s a few pics of our trip.
