Motorcycle Portable March 2024

With short notice, myself and KE8ENC, Tristan Morgan, planned a little outing. We decided to take our bikes, pack up some gear, head into the mountains and setup portable on Sunday March 3 2024. We setup 2 radios and 2 different antennas and worked QRP from a remote mountain top. We worked QRP digital (FT8) and SSB on a couple of different bands. We made several contacts with stations from within the U.S. to Bosnia. We spent around 5-6 hours in the mountains and had a good time. I highly recommend going out into the field and working radio. It really brings a new angle to the hobby, being able to take everything that you need in a small package, setup and get to operating, making contacts and enjoying the hobby. In our case, we both get to ride to the location on our Kawasaki KLR650 Dual Sport bikes and take in the scenery. Here’s some pics from our little adventure:
