Rag Chewing

Rag chewing. Ok, I get it, somewhat. I understand that there’s people in this world that don’t get out much and that radio is a valid way to interact with others. Fine. But telling people about your toenail problem? Really? I wouldn’t tell that to my wife, let alone on a public service where everyone else can hear it. The thing that really irritates the hell out of me about rag chewing is there’s operators that actually believe that their “net” or their normal, everyday “rag chew” that occurs at something-o’clock every day, takes precedence over someone else’s call. You don’t own that frequency. If someone is calling CQ on that freq, especially if they’ve been there for any amount of time, don’t be an asshat and ask for someone to move. Don’t be an asshat and tune up on that frequency. Have an alternative frequency that everyone knows about and simply TURN THE DIAL.
